Standards Working Group

The Standards Working Group currently meets four times a year.  Membership for the group consists of organisations that are raising awareness of and taking forward work in relation to the National Children and Young People’s Participation Standards for Wales in their sector, organisation or local authority area.  Members with a strategic interest in developing work on the Standards also attend.

The Working Group has been actively involved over a long period of time in the development of the Standards from one basic document to a national quality assessment system involving good practice guides, sector briefings, a Young Inspectors training pack and a National Participation Kite-mark for Wales.  Members have also tested out the Standards in a range of contexts and with a range of groups of children and young people.

The Standards Working Group currently has a number of priorities that members are working on with the Participation Unit:

  • Completion and dissemination of a number of new resources for the National Participation Standards and Kite-mark.
  • Launch of the National Standards micro-site on the updated Participation Workers Network for Wales website.
  • Piloting of the new Young Inspectors Train the Trainers and Young Inspectors pack.
  • Development of work on impact assessment – measuring the impacts and benefits of children and young people’s participation as well as the process of participation via the National Standards.

Further information on the current work of the Standards Working Group will be added soon.
