Participation Unit – Youth Offending Team Booklet
Posted:31/01/2012
As part of the Participation Unit’s work on Inclusion and participation, they formed part of an expert group, with membership from the Welsh Government, Youth Justice Board, Rhondda Cynon Taff Youth Offending Service (YOS), Children’s Commissioner for Wales Office, Nacro Cymru, Swansea University and Parc YOI.
The aim of the booklet is to provide young people with the information they need to know at the start of a statutory community based court order. One of the key reasons for its development is that many young people in the youth justice system have problems with communication and comprehension. The booklet is intended to address these needs and to support young people to have a voice, engage in and be part of making informed decisions about matters that affect them.
This work is funded by the ESF Convergence Fund as part of the Reach the Heights project. The YOT booklet will be launched at an event in March.
