Standards & Impact

Measure the process and the impact of children and young people's participation using the National Children and Young People’s Participation Standards for Wales and Impact Assessment Framework.

PWNW

The Participation Workers’ Network for Wales is a service for workers and organisations that are interested in or actively promote participation in their work with children and young people.

The Network was set up in 2006 and is predominantly a web based service.

The PWNW website has recently been redeveloped and the Network now offers the following public services:

  • An information service that defines participation and charts the development of participation in Wales.
  • A news area with regular news and strategic updates from the field of participation
  • Monthly e-briefings highlighting content from the website.

The PWNW also has a members’ area for the sharing of good practice. Membership is free but practitioners need to join and give initial details of their organisation and work for the purpose of good practice.

Services for members include:

  • An online database where members can find and network with other participation workers
  • A members area for practitioners to showcase a participative approach, activity or event they’ve been involved with
  • The opportunity for members to search the members area for the good practice of other practitioners.

The PWNW is being hosted by Children in Wales. The hosting is on behalf of the Children and Young People’s Participation Consortium for Wales, a multi-agency strategic body building capacity for the development of participation in Wales.

The Network works closely with the Participation Consortium and the Participation Unit, the delivery arm of the Consortium based in Save The Children.

The PWNW is funded by the European Social Fund as part of the Reach the Heights project.
